What is Burnout?
Burnout is often confused with stress but is characterized by emotional and mental fatigue, detachment, and a lack of motivation. While stress often makes you feel overwhelmed, burnout can make you feel depleted or drained.
It’s the body and minds response to prolonged periods of stress. This may include demanding workloads, short and persistent deadlines, taking on too much without seeking help or support, etc. The important thing to remember, is that burnout does not equal failure, it’s a response to a lack of sufficient recovery after periods of stress. In therapy, you can begin to understand burnout including the signs and develop strategies to support your well-being.
