What is trauma and PTSD?
Trauma is the mind’s response to distressing experiences that can create a pattern of fear, disconnection, and overwhelming emotions. Symptoms such as intrusive memories, reliving past experiences, or difficulty trusting others may impact your daily life. It is important to note that this is not a sign of weakness but is your nervous system’s way of protecting you. Therapy offers a safe and compassionate space to process these experiences and emotions and rebuild a sense of safety and control.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may develop after experiencing or witnessing a distressing event, leaving you in a persistent state of alertness, fear or emotional overwhelm. Symptoms such as intrusive memories, avoidance of certain places, or feelings of disconnection from yourself or others may appear as your mind and body’s way of protecting you. Therapy offers a safe space to gently process these experiences, build coping strategies, and restore a sense of safety and control in your everyday life.
