What are behavioural addictions?
Behavioural addictions including shopping, gambling, and gaming may develop when certain behaviours become difficult to control and begin to impact the quality of your daily life. While these behaviours may offer short term relief or escape, they may make you feel “stuck” leading to guilt, stress, or a loss of control.
It is important to remember that these are note signs of weakness but are patterns that develop as coping mechanisms to underlying stressors or unaddressed emotions. Therapy offers a supportive space to begin to understand these behaviours and identify personal triggers so that building healthier coping mechanisms feels achievable.
